MCLENNAN AND REDPATH COMPLEX
If you were to say that you were heading to the library, everyone would assume you were referring to McLennan. McLennan library is the library of all libraries, the classic study zone. It consists of 6 large floors that has a variety of desk setups. My personal favourite are the colourful desks with dividers, it makes you feel like a horse wearing blinders forcing you to stay focused. McLennan is attached to the Redpath complex, which is one of the only study areas on campus that is open 24 hours, which is important to remember when you realize you forgot about that major paper due the next day. There is also a convenient cafeteria located in the basement, including a Tim Horton's and Pizza Pizza, every studier's dream! Head to McLennan if you want to get some serious studying done but don't be caught talking for fellow students can give some mean death stares.

MUSIC LIBRARY
Located at the corner of Aylmer and Sherbrooke, the music library is on the outskirts of campus, which gives it a less intense atmosphere. Unlike the block prison like structure of McLennan, the music library is lined with big windows letting in a lot of natural light. This brightness gives the library a very relaxed, friendly environment without the looming stress of cramming students surrounding you. A unique feature of the music library is that each floor is a different noise level, there is the talking floor, the whispering floor and the quiet floor. This aspect makes the music library an ideal location for group study sessions or anytime you want to get some casual work done with friends. Also for all you music students (or arts students taking art of listening) the music library has a listening area, where you can take out records and albums to listen to.

LAW LIBRARY
If you don't mind a little walk up a hill, the law library could be your new study home. The layout is nicely spread out and due to the location it is rarely busy. With its huge windows and large tables, it feels like a stereotypical library right out of a movie. It allows you to fully immerse yourself into your work and stay concentrated for hours (add the self-control app and you are set for exams!). Personally, sometimes I find that Law Library to be a little daunting. It can be quite intimidating studying your PSYC 100 lecture notes besides a soon to be lawyer but sometimes this extra stress can be very motivating.

BIRKS
If you are in the mood for a unique experience then by all means go to Birks. Probably the weirdest library on campus, Birks is part of the religious department and is actually considered to be a 'reading room' (which honestly I have no idea how that differs from a library…). Built in 1930, Birks is a beautifully old building that is admired for its architectural structure. The building also contains the Birks Heritage Chapel, so if you need some spiritual help with your studying then this is easy access. But there are two major warnings with Birks. First, it is a quite library, a silent library actually. Not sure what his name is but there is a man who works there who will be constantly demanding silence and will personally target you if you even whisper. Second, be prepared to remove your shoes! Birks is a shoeless library and all visitors must remove their shoes and leave them at the door before entering so I would recommend some clean new socks to avoid an awkward barefoot situation.
